0 Lathrop, CA Lathrop, CA Full-time Full-time $25 - $30 an hour $25 - $30 an hour 1 day ago 1 day ago 1 day ago PURPOSE AND KEY RESULTS OF THE POSITION Under the general supervision of the Shop Foreman - Almondwood, the Materials and Stores Specialist oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, including but not limited to:
receiving; shipping; order filling; inventory replenishment; space management; supplier quality control.
Incumbent operates powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
Gives direction in maintaining a safe work environment.
The successful candidate must adhere to ethical practices and policies, ensure best value for the company, and demonstrate a positive attitude and a commitment to providing quality service that is accurate, timely, and exceeds internal and external customers' expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES Kits and delivers materials for production work orders.
Provides over-the-counter support of issuing materials, tooling and sundries to production.
Receives and places materials into stock, ensuring accuracy of shipments against purchase orders, and reporting discrepancies to the Buyer.
Picks up materials from local vendors, as required.
Transports materials between company locations.
Assists in the preparation of physical inventory.
Assists in completing inventory cycle counts.
Helps to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the site, including the proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
May represent the plant in dealings with equipment vendors, parts suppliers and contractors delivering material to the plant.
Prepares spaces and areas to store all items of all sizes, shapes, and weights.
Verifies that storage and maintenance of materials & equipment is according to the site procedures, vendor recommendations and safety regulations.
Maintains warehouse in a safe and clean manner.
Assists in other plant activities, as assigned, including shop maintenance, clean up and production support.
Prepare shipments.
Provide over the counter support for parts customers, including phone support.
Moves materials around yard either by hand, with dolly or using forklift.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY Strong computer skills required for this position.
Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Good communication and organizational skills required.
Experience driving forklift.
Valid CA driver's license and proof of insurance required.
Familiarity with agricultural trailers is a plus.
Mechanical experience and ability is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of work-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT While at their base of operations, employees will work in a non-climate-controlled office under artificial lighting.
Employee will also be required to travel and work outdoors and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and or extreme heat or cold.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PERFORMING ESSENTIAL DUTIES Sitting/Standing/Walking:
About 20% of the time is spent sitting in an office.
About 80% of the time is in the shop or yard.
Speaking/Hearing:
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
Vision:
Ability to effectively visualize the computer screen, read printed materials and inspect equipment.
Lifting/Carrying:
Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50#s for a short period of time and distance.
Stooping/Kneeling:
Ability to stoop/kneel when required.
Reaching/Handling:
Ability to reach/handle product when required.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders, bend and twist.
