Welcome Desk Team

Job Summary: Our Welcome Desk Team greets all members and prospective members as they enter the club. Receives cash from customers or employees in payment of goods or services. Assists all members, and ensures their visit is positive by following through with the following duties:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect membership cards and sign in members on computer system
  • Responds to inquiries from potential members and current members
  • Displays or demonstrates products, supplements and retail items
  • Operates and balances cash register including making changes and issuing receipts as needed
  • Reads and records totals shown on cash register tape and verifies against cash on hand. Prepares close-out reports per company policy
  • Assists in other departments as needed (Housekeeping/Fitness Advisor)
  • Respond to telephone inquiries within three rings. Obtains name and phone numbers for telephone inquiries. Documents per company policy
  • Ability to greet members by name. Handles prospective members and walk-ins appropriately. Fills out company documentation per policy
  • Displays or demonstrates products, supplements and retail items; emphasizes salable features
  • Quotes prices, computes bills or itemized lists and prepares handwritten receipts for sales transacted
  • Participate in Team Clean process to pick up a variety of items from varies sections of the club (weights, towels, trash, etc). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • One to three months working with the public
  • Hiring is done for block schedules, so flexibility is key
  • Ability to analyze, interpret company policies (written, oral, diagram and or schedule form), write reports, procedures and safety instructions
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and time constraints and display positive behaviors in all member contacts
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, co-workers, members and the general public
  • Basic math skills to include the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentage
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Work Environment/ Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, changes in temperature/humidity; moving mechanical parts and vibration and exercise equipment; frequently required to stand, walk 4-8hours/8 hour day; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; and frequently use both feet and move them forward/backward and side to side; seldom required to sit; frequently to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and continuously reach and twist, including side-to-side movements; carry or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
